Great coffee table book. I really enjoyed all the photos. Some space in the book could be better utilized. There are some pages almost completely blank except for a very small picture. Overall great book.

Gorgeous book!

The book has the most amazing photographs that truly celebrate the Earth. I would highly recommend this work of art. It's spectacular and I'm certainly glad I purchased it.

Edmaier takes us to a variety of isolated and relatively unpopulated areas for some terrific aerial photos of our planet. We see water, ice, tundra, glaciers, sandy deserts, volcanoes, coasts, grassland, and forests. And Jung-Huettl's descriptions of what we are seeing are nicely done.The overall effect is eerie, as if the Earth were uninhabited (by our species, at least) and we humans were looking the place over and trying to decide if we wanted to visit it, live there, or try someplace else.In any case, the photographs are marvellous and show plenty of detail. If I were writing a book on planetary science, I'd want to use a couple of these photos for the section on our little world.

The photographs are stunning but it's not worth buying the postcard version of these if your intent is to USE them as postcards. This is because these (as well as many other postcards from this publisher) are the non-standard size of 6" x 6". They cannot be handled as normal postcards by the USPS and cost more than a first-class envelope to send and will have to be sorted and processed by hand rather than by machine. If you're only looking for small cardstock version of the images this is a fine choice.

This is a book that one must see to truly appreciate. I came across it in a store and began to browse because it looked as though it was a collection of spectacular works of modern art. The realisation that it was an album of aerial photographs only made it more compelling. There are many images that are breathtaking in their own right but the effect of combining them into a planetary photo essay is nothing short of outstanding. It uniquely explores the great diversity of Mother Earth while highlighting the beauty that is always present in her many forms.Everyone I have showed this book to has had a similar reaction. If you are looking for a gift for that person who is difficult to buy for because they seem to have everything, look no further. They are sure to be delighted.

I was really looking forward to receiving and reading this book - I had looked at it in the stores but it was plastic wrapped and, therefore, I could not see what was inside. However, once I had received it from Amazon and opened it, my eager anticipation gave way to annoyance and disappointment. The photographs of the earth from above are, indeed, spectacular and of the highest quality, BUT Edmaier has used (or appears to have used) the same (or variations of the same) photographs over and over again - even though the book is supposed to have four distinct themes, Aqua, Barren, Desert and Green. I own several books published by Phaidon and have been impressed beyond expectation with every one of them - not this time. I considered the book price to be reasonable until I opened it - now I feel as if I have been ripped off! With over 220 pages, I expected in the region of 150-200 different photographs. Yes, the photographs are different but most of them are just different views of the same subject - not what I expected at all. Overall, a nice coffee table book, but far too expensive for what you actually get. Very disappointing!

This is a beautiful book--incredible photography, carefully printed. There is a printing flaw on page 26.

This book is excellent for anybody that needs a real explanation of the judicial system in the US, especially if you are a foreign trained attorney. I really loved all the explanations and details into scenarios and all you need to know to go to court as an interpreter.

Excellent theory and practice guide for every aspiring or experienced legal/court interpreter. Definitely, the most comprehensive and authoritative publication in the field.

VERY GOOD

To say that this volume is comprehensive is an understatement. The authors have done a masterful job of covering the entire spectrum revolving around court interpretation. This not only includes those elements which are particularly germane to the field, but the backstory, tangential elements, and possible areas of improvement. As such the book is overwhelming.Anyone who picks up the book to read it from cover to cover is doing the book a disservice. That is not its designed purpose. It is a reference book for anyone who is remotely connected to the legal system and, in particular, to the interpreting world within that system. Each chapter, and some sections, are designed as stand-alone treatises on the subject matter covered. This allows the student, interpreter, or legal system employee to find and understand a particular area of interest without having to wade through hundreds of pages of superfluous, to their particular issue, material. (The Table of Contents is massive for easy access to particular subject matter.)As such is should be in every legal library and at the fingertips of anyone who works in the legal system, especially those related to the area of interpreting.Although designed for the world of interpreting within the legal system, given its comprehensive nature it is an excellent resource for anyone interested in the field of interpreting in general. The authors systematically explain the various methods, elements, and venues of the interpreting world. They analyze the issues most critical to each of these areas and contrast them with the needs of the legal system. In doing so, they create a tremendous base for those who are interested in interpreting, not just interpreting in the court system.Therefore, even those who are interpret or intend to interpret in other venues should strongly consider having this resource available for their perusal as needed – and it will be needed.

The second addition of Fundamentals of Court Interpretation is a more than timely update to the premier book of legal interpretation. I enjoyed that it has more than 20 years worth of updates from ongoing research and feedback from thousands of court interpreters assimilated into the new edition. The maps are not very clear to detail and are better found on the internet where one can blow them up and look closer.I was disappointed with the maps for Eastern Europe in general. K

I bought this book "used" from Bellweather Books simply to help me when I am reading a book that makes reference to areas from long ago. I was stunned at how gorgeous the maps are, and had to peruse it page by page. The best part for me is that the maps are identified by date, then placed in chronological order. I am thrilled with this book and will use it frequently especially when I have my DNA tested.

Exactly what I needed! After reading a book on the Napoleonic wars etc, it was difficult the assess the boundaries of each country. This book is perfect. Maps are categorized by time, so you can flip the pages and see the changes. It is not meant to be a detail map of cities etc. For that you can see it on Google map. But if you want to see for example, how France, Germany etc looked like in 1871?, this is the book for you!

This book has many maps but some are so small that they are unusable. Still, if you are doing genealogical research n old Europe, this is invaluable.

I really like this book, it is helpful. It does not have every map for every country during every period. Boundaries have changed multiple times over the years. But I have found the book does have a lot of good maps. Great place to start, it may be all you need, you may possibly need to use this along with other sources, depending on your needs. I would certainly recommend this book for any genealogist that is researching Europe.

This is *not* adapted for Kindle. Wish I would have read the reviews before purchasing. The maps are completely illegible on an iPad Pro. Going to write for a refund.

This will be a useful reference as I try to trace the steps of my ancestors. However, I will need to use my magnifying glass to read the maps.

This is a very useful of compendium of historic maps. I would like to see more maps and the same maps with greater detail, but I am grateful that somebody found these maps and collected them into a single source book.

Overall, it is a painless (well constructed) introduction to a very messy subject, but it leaves a lot unexplained.This book was a course textbook for my 400/800 level medical microbiology class. It is fairly easy to use, explains concepts concisely, and has a nice layout and nice images that facilitates speed-reading and quick searching. The organization of material under headings such as "classification" "notable species" "pathogenesis and clinical findings" "diagnostic tests" "treatment" "epidemiology, prevention and control" make this book easy to use and provide conceptual organization to a very broad and messy subject but this format facilitates high-speed learning, not in-depth learning.The book was generally not used by many students in my class, would not have been adequate preparation for the course's tests, nor would it be a good standalone for anyone looking to develop their understanding of microbial organisms or microbe/host dynamics, or even their clinical presentation or diagnosis. Many organisms are dealt with only briefly, their basic metabolic principles or mechanisms of action are not explained in any real detail, and there is little synthesis of the concepts discussed -making the book encyclopedic rather than explanatory. Despite the books narrow clinical focus, I didn't think the layout of the book facilitated the development of a clinical mindset about the organisms discussed since organisms were not grouped by their diagnosis or clinical presentation. In the future, I will probably use wikipedia, or websites such as the CDC more often than this book for future microbiology questions about a specific organism. This book may be useful for someone interested in learning about clinical microbiology, but for a more detailed introduction to microorganisms and their effects on the human body I would suggest Brocks biology of microogranisms and a good background in physiology or pathology.

I got this textbook because I needed to know the morphology of some bacteria that we may come across in my work with indoor air quality. Although the book is geared more towards doctor related virus, bacteria and molds it did give me a better understanding of the subject.

Thank you for a great buy or in my case, rent. I expected the book to be in complete total wreck of a mess status but instead Im happy that my money was well invested with the book. Its a good book, all pages intact, clean, well kept, I guess for me Im so happy I can say it might as well have been a brand new book. I appreciate your thoughtfulness concerning the price for us college students!. Would order from you again anytime soon!

Full of information and resource. I love the fact that the seller live up to it's promised, the book was nicely packed, New and Spotless. Worth every penny I spent. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in learning microbes :)

This is one of those books I could sit and read for hours. It's well written, clear and detailed. Most likely not light reading for most people, but it is for me. Great stuff! Even if you don't have a background in biology, this books is pretty easy to understand.
