I first tried to quit with Allen Carr's Easyway - it worked for 10 days, but then I was stupid enough to start smoking again. A few months later, I decided to try another book, so I picked this one. The book is great - and I liked how it focuses on getting to know ourselves first before actually quitting. However, with Easyway, by the time I was approaching the end of the book, I was getting thrilled and extremely confident I'd quit. With SmokEnders not so much; one of the biggest reasons is that with SmokEnders, the journey lasts for about a month. I am not a very patient person, and felt overwhelmed by the things I had to do.Hence, I went back to Easyway, one the same day I was finishing SmokEnders. Read through the entire book from midnight until around 4am. It has now been a month, and never been happier, relaxed and confident in myself.

This book was a GREAT help to my Mom in her struggle. It detail's a very different kind of approach to quitting smoking. It doesn't throw crap down the reader's throat but rather allow a little leeway, understanding the difficult struggle ahead.Good strategies for anyone willing to listen to them.It is not a "STOP SMOKING NOW!" book, neither is it a self-help book, rather an informative, helpful little guide in breaking down each individual smoker's habit, helping them slowly, but surely, gain the willpower necessary to finally quit smoke.Since she finally quit, It's been several Month's. Her mood has changed a lot, she seem's happier, less nervous and easier to accept difficult challenges.

I read this in 1988. I chose 4/1/88 to stop smoking. I stopped for 23 years. Then had one puff and I was hooked again. Will stop again by reading this book again. The humor points out how foolish this habit is. It takes 72 hours to rid your body of nicotine. Very hard and stressful but then an oxygen high. But with all addictions stay away from that next puff!

this book works like a charm. it was very marked up from previous owner but i wouldn't have filled out the questionnaires anyway and skimmed them. the book has a very subtle psychology that works. recommend to anyone trying to quit.

Although this book has been written more than twenty years ago, it worked for me-twice.First time i was smoke free for 18 months, second time 9.The program that the author suggests is good, I was not climbing walls, I didn't have unbearable cravings and I really enjoyed the way I smelled after I quit.The fact that I 'slipped' is my own responsibility and failing and I am currently going through the program to quit - for good this time.Highly recommended. You have nothing to lose.

I have been a solo traveler for 10 years. I was hoping for some insights when I bought this book. The pages are filled with lots of pictures and graphics but very few words. This is a "feel good" book about traveling solo. I have read most of the information contained in this book on travel websites. It's intended audience are people under 35yo with a limited budget.I would return it but feel it is ethically wrong to return a book after skimming through it. Instead, I'll gift it for Christmas. Don't waste your money on this.

Great manual so far for a first timer traveler guide to Europe or anywhere for that matter

My friend is going to Ireland on a solo trip this year and so I thought this would make a nice birthday gift. When she opened it, she immediately started flipping through and even said it got her excited for the trip since she was starting to get a bit nervous. Seems like a nice book for anyone considering a trip for themselves.

Interesting content but not enough of it. Format was not functional for e-reading. In fact it was very tedious and frustrating.Geared mostly towards the young traveler.

Great tips from packing to travel apps. A really useful buy.

I purchased this book with a few others of the same genre and was quite pleased with most of the projects included. Though some completed figures have that cartoonish, child-made feel, several others can be made to look professional by incorporating tips from Creating Lifelike Figures in Polymer Clay: Tools and Techniques for Sculpting Realistic Figures (which was by far the best book I purchased in this round). There is a juvenile language used that some might find irritating but the instructions are clear, step-by-step and well illustrated. If you are looking for a book with projects to do side-by-side with your child this may fit the bill as there are figures suitable for most difficulty levels.

This book has fantastic photos that illuminate the already clear text. The projects start with very simple and progress to the more complex. I have made the tree, though mine came out much differently, I'm very pleased with my results. The idea is not to copy the projects exactly, but to learn the techniques to create my own unique sculptures. I am hoping to purchase a lot of clay so that I complete all the projects in this book. If you're wavering about getting this book, go for it. It is an educational experience in every way. I love Maureen's work. She's a true artist and explains her techniques with clarity in a concise fashion that is easy to read and pleasant, too.

As usual, Maureen does NOT disappoint! I bought several sculpting books lately, all on mythical creatures and THIS BOOK surpassed every single one of them. It came first of the three I ordered, and nothing was able to match it's depth, teaching, photographs, detailed explanations, or care that was given to writing this book. I love the highly detailed instructions, photographs, and so many different techniques that you will use again and again and again. This is one of my favorite polymer clay books for sculpting now. Don't miss out - be sure to get this book!

This is not a story book. I have made one of the fairies and given it to a friend for her birthday and she was thrilled. I will make more fairies from this book. By the way, there is not plot - just a good instruction book.

I recently have decided to try polymer clay. I wasn't sure where to start so I ordered this book first. I love fairies, trolls, etc. I sat down as soon as I received it and read the whole thing. It is very informative. I tried my first polymer clay creature last night and it turned out wonderfully. Without this book, I wouldn't of known where to get started. Although I have not tried making any of the creatures out of this book, I am excited about attempting it. There is so much detail about each individual project that I feel comfortable with it. I highly recommend this book for all levels.

This book fascinates me every time I pick it up. There are so many charactres in here that I want to make. The techniques seem so easy to follow & it drives the creativity in you too. I'm new at this polymer clay thing, but I found so much inspiration in these books, I can't wait to jump in with both feet....guess I should change that to hands!Also, this was another used book I bought through Amazon and it's affiliates that was a great bargain and in perfect condition. You will save lots of $$ this way! More to spend on your clay and tools.

Another surprise "how to create more polymer characters". First he had a great time enjoying the author's creative ideas and instructions. He is now working on his first gnome. Paul is very creative and will soon have a whole fairy village for a knock in our back yard.

This is an instructional book. It is not exactly what I was looking for but if you are wanting to create more mythical creatures this is a great tool. I was looking for more sweet fairy designs, however it did give me a lot of useful information about sculpting.

In a three star review, the reviewer writes, that a reference to jacuzzi is confusing in the story of John Henry. Julius Lester, the author of John Henry, explains in his book "Unlce Remus, The Complete Tales, "...the reader will notice a shifting from past to present tense in some stories. Black English does not make hard distinctions between past and present. Is something that happened in the past but is present in emotions, past or present? It is both, according to black people". I am not black but I get it, and totally agree.Mr. Lester writes that John Henry added onto his parents home an indoor swimming pool and a "jacutzis". But John Henry is a legend from 1929? How then could a jacuzzi be a part of the story? The reference to the "jacutzis", I found while reading to my grandhcildren, is simply wonderful, a little gift! It delighted the children as I read to them because children instantly feel the excitment of a swimming pool and "jacutzis". It does not matter that the story takes place in 1929 to a child. What matters is that the mention of a "jacutzis" instantly creates excitment in children and they relate to John Henry as a fun loving and caring son who gifted his parents with such gifts of love and appreciation. (It also serves as a cleaver writing tool, for older children).There are more cleaver examples of past and present emotions used in this wonderful story. But the real treat comes at the end when you read what matters most of all in life is "how well you do your living".The coupling of Julius Lester with Jerry Pinkney is a wonderful enticement to readers of all ages. It is impossible to turn the page without resting your eyes on each detail that Pinkney so unselfishly provides. His art is never ending. Pinkney has a true respect for children. He does not simply use one medium or repeated shapes. Pinkney illustrates with shadows, lines, several mediums and great passionate attention to detail. Our grandson loves this story. We actually live just over an hour's drive of Talcott, WV; home of the John Henry statue and the tunnel where John Henry raced the steam drill. Our grandchildren have always been interested in the story of John Henry and consider him to be a true American hero. There are many songs written and sung about him in our area. I was pleased to find this book, especially in hard-cover. Instead of cards (which most people do not keep), my husband and I give our grandchidren a book each year for their birthday and we write our message to them as well as the date and their age on the inside cover. This book was our grandson's "birthday card" or book, I should say; hopefully he will keep the book and be able to remember his birthdate and will always have the message from "Nanny & Poppy" inside.

This is a really fun book. I purchased this for my 4 year old grandson for Christmas. In the past I have used these book while teaching about tall tales in Junior High. I was excited when my grandson showed interest in Paul Bunyan, John Henry, and Pecos Bill. These books are so fun I am excited to share them with him!

I'm a music teacher, so I am constantly on the look out for books I can sing to my class. John Henry is a fantastic song of a great African-American hero. While the prose of Julius Lester sings, it isn't the lyrics to the song, so it didn't really meet my needs. It does however read aloud with majesty and grace. I am keeping it for my daughter to enjoy as a bedtime story.If you are looking for a book with gorgeous prose, this is a five-star book.If you are looking for a book you can sing, it won't help you, but the illustrations are so damned gorgeous that I can't help but give it four stars for this.

The story of John Henry fleshed out and made magical at the same time. The paintings are evocative watercolors, beautifully done. The language is an interesting mixture of puns and idioms. The story of John Henry is so compelling to my little boy that he resists reading the part where John dies because he just can't stand it. We have to skip over to the page where it explains that you can still hear the hammers ringing out if you listen in the night out front of the White House. He likes that. Odd and mystical. Recommended.

This is a nice book. I like it. I don't think my children probably like it as much yet. I wish the illustrations were a bit more child-friendly. They are a bit too artistic and adult for children. The test has a nice rhythm, without being actual poetry. I thought there was more to the story, but I'm probably just remembering it wrong from childhood.

Shelley Shepard Gray is one of my favorite Christian Authors. Her series The Amish of Hart County has been a such a delight to read. It has a wonderful contemporary feel while keeping us in the Amish community. Her latest book in the series - His Risk - is another wonderful addition. This time we see a focus on Calvin Fisher who we met in his brother's story - His Guilt. I love when we get a sibling story because we get to see where previously beloved characters' lives have gone. This book was a wonderful addition and had that edge of suspense that we've come to love from Gray.*I received a copy of the book for review purposes, all opinions are my own.

Once again, Shelley Shepard Gray takes you on a whirl-wind of emotions in this novel! It is by far my favorite book in the series, and it keeps you on your toes. You will not be disappointed with this book, the series, or any of Shelley's books she's written. She has a true God-Given talent and it is amazing to read what she comes up with. Happy reading!!

This Amish story by Ms.Gray was quite a suspenseful tale. I really enjoyed it. It was quite different than any Amish book I have read before. I liked all the characters and of course the romance between Calvin and Alice. I also liked the secondary romance with Irene and West as well. In fact, I hope there will be a romance book just for Irene. maybe the next one will? I enjoyed it and recommend to all Amish lovers.

Being a huge fan of Shelley Shepard Gray I must admit this story is not a disappointment. Calvin and Alice bring a story of Faith, Hope, and Trust. I was completely captivated by the story and the message and you will be too. Do not let this series pass you by. Thank you Shelley Shepard Gray.

My reservation with Elements is more about Adobe. The Program does no keep track of recently edited files, only the first several So after you've accessed the several, Elements is of no help tracking recent files. Many times I do not use Elements for a while, and so there are times I don't remember where one of the recent files is located. Every other major application has this feature; it can be of significant help. A search of the Internet shows there are many other users that are frustrated with this problem/oversight.Adobe HAS NOT ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE; NO PATCHES or other fixes.

Good overview for the current PSE user. Not for the beginner. PSE is a "deep" program (the options have many options), you'll still need the tutorials to be productive. But this a good cheat sheet of what PSE can do. Recommended for the current PSE user who whats to increase the tools they use..,

My nine year old loves this series. I decided to read this volume to find out why my son finds Dog Man so entertaining.What I found is that there isn’t anything too mysterious about its appeal. A mix of sympathetic characters, gross-out scenes and a bland but well-meaning moral seem to be the formula for its success. The emphasis on bodily humor will probably make the book more suitable for a boy than a girl.But perhaps a review by a child would be more apt than a forty-something’s opinion. He thought it was good but not great. Dog Man is a good choice if you are looking for a book that your pre-teen will read without having to apply any pressure. But don’t expect anything too substantial in the text.

This lovely book came Monday 12/24. My 8 yo and 6yo have already devoured it.My 6yo is not a confident reader. He’s great at reading but doesn’t seem to trust his own abilities. Something really clicked with him a week ago and this kiddo binge read all 5 Dog Man books so he would be caught up for #6.I love how these books spark a love of reading and a lot of laughs.

My 8 year old son was excited to read his new book but we both quickly realized that it was not appropriate for him. There is no reason for there to be multiple pages of nothing but a dog puking violently everywhere. What is my kid getting out of that? In addition, my son even found it somewhat hard to read because of the horrible english it uses. It combines words together to form words that don't even exist which is not what a second grader needs to practice reading! I tried to return this as my son is refusing to read it after the puking dog pages but return shipping was more than I paid for the book to begin with. Do yourself a favor and get your child something worthwhile to read and skip this horrible book.

My son loves these books! We pre-ordered this book for him so he could continue his collection. This one was one of his favorites so far. He literally laughs out loud and loves reading them with his dad. Any book that has my kids excited to read is a great accomplishment in my opinion!

To contradict the usual glorification of hero-worshiping façade, Dog Man is none of your familiar super heroes in Marvel Comic Strips, nor is he like Batman, Superman, or even Iron man who seems to possess vulnerable human traits, and yet is equipped with wondrously technological gizmos or alien superpower. Contrariwise, Dav Pilkey’s Dog Man wonderfully embodies all things related to our unfavorable human tendencies that cloud our wondrous potential abilities - insecurity, disappointment, loneliness, and diffidence as deeply felt by Pilkey himself as a child diagnosed with Dyslexia and ADHD at school.Pace the generalization of the book as being intent for children, this book is inclusive of literature, philosophy, philosophy, and sociology contextualized in the story and delineated in the characters without gravitas of the academia. Take Dog Man, who finds himself estranged from his colleagues at his police station except his boss, Chief. Dog Man cannot talk for the reason because he’s a dog with a human body used to belong to his K-9 policeman killed in action. As the title "The Brawl of the Wild" adumbrates, Dog Man is in a way reminiscent of Buck, the sled dog in Jack London’s classic The Call of the Wild that comes to term with his fate and even reconciliation with a treacherous human in the person of Thornton. Then there are Petey, who is supposedly a sinister jailbird, but in fact softy inside, his cute young son Li’l Petey, who never gives up on his jail- bound father Petey in his joint collaboration with Dog Man in rescue operation of the city, and stern but benevolent Chief, who seems to defend Dog Man against unjust and unfair treatments from his fellow policeman/policewomen and the pompous judge. Wisecraking and heartwarming, hilarious and sentimental, intelligent and vivacious, each of the chapters is smoothly linked to the next one with amusing in-between intermissions that deserves of the separate theaters of appreciation.The book is an enjoyable parade of laugh and compassion wrapped up in delightful amusement of vivid colors and elegant dialogues, which can be made possible by an insightful and observant author who stands with the reader and sees hope and goodness mired in the despair of hopelessness and powerlessness at the heart of humanity. I recommend this book to all who want to spend their time reading something jovial and funny after a long hard day or just to fill their minds and hearts with a fresh breath of air. This is a scintillating read that evokes a wide arc of thoughtfulness and imagination in the minds of readers both young and old, and the young at heart.

My son unwrapped this book and was entranced by it. He has never read a book as long as he did for this book. How often do you see a 7 year-old ready 110 pages by themselves out loud without being asked? I read the book after he did and its very funny. We love the series and this latest addition is just as memorable as the others. Thank you for making a great book for all ages!

This series is a huge hit in our home. We preordered this one as a Christmas gift for our son and he reads it every night. He finishes it and then starts over. It definitely encourages him to read. He finds the book hilarious and wants to read what happens to family members and friends to share laughs. The only downfall is that he stays up too late in his room reading and laughing after bedtime. :)

My 7-year-old grandson got this for Christmas. With all his expensive gifts he could have chosen to play with first, he took off to a quiet place in the house and started this book! What a WIN for parents & grandparents trying to get him to enjoy reading! With interruptions, he was still half-finished when they left for home! He loves these books! All the kids in his classroom wanted to borrow it when he got back to school after break.
